as most of you need, dh has a seious heart condition. I want to get life isnurence for both os us, but think we'd need a specialist policy for dh. how do i find out about this?

you'd probably have to be extremely rich to afford a life insurance policy to cover someone with a potentially serious health problem .. sorry

misdee · 03/11/2004 18:36

thats what we thought. best just sort out something for me.

even with DH's condition (which is not life-threatening but is chronic) we found we were a special case and he doesn't qualify for 'waiver of benefit' .. ie if he's unable to work they will not cover his premiums (part of the premium)

Hi misdee
if you have a look on the British Heart Foundation website www.bhf.org.uk and search under 'life insurance' you'll find a list of possible insurers plus details of independent financial advisors that can find you suitable policies for your dh.

cheers. dh just told me that if he does die, he'd happily go in a cardboard coffin and be cremated as its cheasper than fancy coffin and burial plot. isnt he considerate.

thats good to hear. make sure he takes it easy at home.

and my dh is serious about the cardboard, he makes me chuckle, so practical in some ways.

Misdee I would suggest that you get your own insurance sorted out and deal with his separately. We tried to do a joint policy and because my DH has psoriasis (its a skin complaint??????) they tripled our policy costs. I hate insurance companies.
