REALLY CROSS - Boots have said they might think about refunding my money after not delivering something I ordered online!

Ordered some of the protect and perfect serum whilst its on offer and it arrived today. At least the box has. The free gift was inside but not the actual product. Called Boots immediately who have said they will need to do an investigation because as far as they are concerned they have sent it to me! The girl I spoke to said that because of the value of the product they couldn't send one out to me even though I've paid for it. This is going to make me think twice about online shopping. How am I supposed to prove it wasn't in the box?

How crap is that?

tweetyfish · 14/11/2007 14:48

any chance the courrier weighed it? sometimes a weight is put on the side of the package, and they might be able to weigh it at their end? But then, serum is unlikely to weigh very much.
what a horrible situation for you to be in! very at boots though!

ellehcim · 14/11/2007 14:50

Its SERIOUSLY crap.
Am going to have to put in a complaint of some sort and trot out my "I'm a solicitor - be scared" line (even though I'm an employment lawyer and know nothing about goods and services stuff!)

Good suggestion Tweety. Will go and fish the pacakging out of the recycling bag.

Should there be more than one parcel? I have had this with Boots before were the order and the free gifts come separately.

ellehcim · 14/11/2007 14:57

No the note in the box says it should all be in the one package. No weight on the packaging either

Phone again and ask to speak to someone in authority. Sometimes the phone operatives have delusions of grandeur and don't knoiw what they are talking about.

Boots staff are the rudest and most unhelpful, I trekked into town with a voucher they sent me when I was heavily pregnant, only to be told their system wouldn't accept it, please come back tomorrow.

The last time I shopped there, the assistant told me she didn't have any change in her till, and so didn't give me any (was only 5p) but she made a big song and dance about me asking for my change "I TOLD you you'd have to do without" she said as she stomped off to the next till to get some more.

I shop at Superdrug now.

TheChickenLady · 14/11/2007 15:46

Disclaimer - not all Boots staff are rude, just the ones that I seem to deal with.

DaisyMoo · 14/11/2007 18:28

Boots customer services though are usually pretty good and have far better training than store staff. I worked there (a few years ago admittedly) and they were always very good.

If you paid for it on your credit card aren't they jointly liable or something? I would be very, very surprised if Boots don't back down if you persist.

phone them back.

the e-coms I work for will replace parcels even if they are high value - stuff does go missing sometimes. Call boots back, ask to speak to a a manager and write down their name and what they say. if you don't get any joy, then call your credit card co and get the transaction reversed. they'll make you fill lots of forms in but they will reverse the transaction if you can show you made an effort to try and get boots to pay up.

I too have found boots seriously shite with customer complaints. My husband bought me a clock alarm thingy a while ago and when I took it back, the bloke behind the counter didn't believe me that there was something wrong with it. He laughed and said "Oh yeah ... " as if I was a total prat. It made me soooo angry I felt like slapping him.

I havent really shopped there much since - I won't ever forget it, as it was really embarassing. He wouldn't give me my money back or even change it - a power hungry job's worth bastard!! So I got my mum to take it back to a different shop - ha ha.

I hope you sort it out - sorry I am just ranting here and not giving you any advice at all.

you don't have to prove it...i sell online and if a customer says they didn't receive something then it has to be replaced

zippitippitoes · 17/11/2007 09:55

or refunded
