Help with Eon meter

We’ve just moved into our property 4 weeks ago and it’s all electric, no gas. Just trying to find out how much we’ve currently spent as we don’t know how much as flat is being all electric... this is the only screen I could get up. Is this what we’ve currently used orrr? We pay 3 monthly if that makes any difference!

No one lived here before us as it's a new flat

A girl I asked in another group said this "😂 so basically when properly is empty it goes on a mode so it runs free otherwise landlord be paying for something he don’t live in. So when you move it you will have free electric until u ring the company to change name over then you will pay either by key or monthly. But because it’s still on the credit mode you or company won’t know how much you have used wish is annoying x"

I rang eon and notified them we've moved in and she said nothing about any of that? Advice anyone?! Just really want to know what that £41.10 means!

Is it a smart meter or prepay or something else?
Do you have storage heaters?

dementedpixie · 02/05/2021 13:04

And have you noted your start meter readings?

ggggrace · 02/05/2021 13:05

@dementedpixie we gave them our readings when we first rang them 3 weeks ago yes. I think it's a smart meter we just don't have the in home display yet. We pay 3 monthly

I’m not entirely sure what the person on the other group meant, as even empty properties are billed! Albeit just for the daily standing charge if there’s nothing plugged in. The responsibility for the bills will be with whoever owns or occupies the property at that time.

You can work out exactly how much you’ve used in £s by subtracting your move-in reading from your current reading to give your usage in kWh.

Then multiply the usage in kWh by your tariff rate (which is given in pence per kWh and can be found on your bills, online Eon account or welcome pack etc) to give the cost of that electricity use.

Then just add the daily standing charge figure to that for the three weeks (again this should be available online or on any paperwork you’ve had from Eon)

Generally speaking monthly Direct Debit tariffs tend to be cheaper than paying quarterly, so you might want to look at switching either tariffs with Eon, or suppliers.

Your meter is a second generation smart meter (smets2) so should work as a smart meter with any supplier, meaning they’ll be taking readings remotely.
