Tax Credits or Adult Benefits for 18 year old on PIP

I’ve rec’d tax credits for years and had the disabled child element which has been a godsend as a single parent.
I don’t get wtc, only get the child element (pre UC) but it had a significant drop a couple of years ago and now another one - presumably because they turned 16 then 18 - it’s now about £150 per month from April.

Child is in SEN school part time for another year, then will probably do non-residential college for life skills but unlikely to ever be in paid employment.
Would starting benefits in their own name be better now ?

Apart from the TC, I get the child benefit of £94/mth. The PiP goes straight to her, so £150 plus £94 per month.

You should go to your local CAB for some advice as they can do a more comprehensive benefits check for your situation. Your adult child will be eligible for benefits but not tax credits and probably not ESA as that system is being replaced by UC for new applications. As they are receiving PIP they may be eligible for disability related premiums as well as the personal allowance. As this will be complex for a young person making a new claim you should get advice.
