Are any bills bundled in too?

No, bills are not included.

Rent will depend on area and size of property. Where in the country are you? I have family in Norfolk paying £390pm for a 2 bed, but in Cambridge between £500-£800 depending on area and size.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 03/04/2021 20:18

Bills are generally not bundled in. I think mine was about £70 a week for a 2 bed 5 years ago I think that was without any housing benefit but would imagine it depends alot on the area.

Our council properties are rented out for anywhere between approx £65pw and around £100pw depending on area and size/type of house. No bills are included, you have to carpet/furnish and decorate yourself.

wildclary · 03/04/2021 22:34

I pay £110pw for a 2 bed in central London. Our water bill is included. My aunt lives in a council block which has communal heating, and it works out cheaper as it's part of an energy-efficient scheme.

ivykaty44 · 04/04/2021 08:53

In my area a 2 bed flat can range from £90 weekly to £190 weekly

1 beds start at around £70

Then council tax, water, heating - often electric only is additional bills to pay.

ivykaty44 · 04/04/2021 08:55

you have to carpet/furnish and decorate yourself.

Carpets and floor covering have to be removed when you leave...

It’s not worth the hassle of a new tenant during council for fleas in carpets...

catvonbat · 04/04/2021 08:59

Water rates and maintenance of communal areas if applicable may be included. Some people might pay a couple of quids a week if they are on certain benefits. Some people pay the full council rent which is still waaaay below market rent. For example, if you got the place when you were vulnerable and on benefits and then you got a job and your benefits stopped then you would pay more, say in London £150 every 2 weeks for a 1 bed.
Your question is very much how long is a piece of string, op.
If you want to know then look at your Local Housing Allowance on lha-direct.voa.gov.uk/Search.aspx
Council properties and Housing Associations as far as I know will stick to the maximum housing allowance for the postcode as that is what the maximum universal credit will pay.

murbblurb · 04/04/2021 17:59

You need to budget for

Council tax
Water
Electric
Gas
Broadband/phone
Contents insurance

And everything you need to supply which may include carpets.

Iwasonceabrownie · 04/04/2021 18:45

I pay £117 a week for a housing association flat. That doesn't include any bills
So I have to pay gas, electric, water rates, council tax on top of that. S.E London.

A colleague of mine has a HA house and she pays around £1k a month on hers. It's a new build and rather nice!

VerityWibbleWobble · 04/04/2021 18:51

Sorry that should say just the rent and service charges, everything else is extra. She said her council tax is band D so that's quite pricey too.

Kitkat151 · 10/04/2021 13:14

My daughter pay £80 a month..2 bed room 2014 housing association property ( one of 6 houses on a private housing estate)....in the NW...no bills included.....it’s Sanctuary Housing...they have houses all over England

Kitkat151 · 10/04/2021 13:15

£80 a week,

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 10/04/2021 13:46

I pay £80 per week for a 4 bed house with gardens in Scotland. A 2 bed around here would be between 40-50 per week. Thats the rent only, nothing else is included.
