We have an overpayment from 2019-20 Does anyone know if payments are reduced in future from WTC only or CTC as well? Thanks

Tax credits are a pain in the arse for this .. I gave up on them eventually because of the constant you owe us money letters
I did find the easiest way to solve it , is to speak to a human being at the tax office and make a plan that suits you for repayment. It means you are in control of how much you pay back and for how long.

I ended up owing them £1k. I am paying them back at £25 a month.. its gonna take years but its not officially debt and its their fault so they can wait for it

They seem to have reduced the CTC and we don't get WTC anymore so that is OK, there are some details online. It's only if it is stopped they can ask for a lump sum back.

If they do that apparently they send a bill 50/50 to each member of the couple.

This happened to us too, so many mix ups, 'you owe us money' letters etc. We also ended up owing over £1000 which I am paying back £25 a month as I can't afford to pay more and we gave them all the correct information so it was their error

From memory depending on the amount they take it from future payments. For example I had one the one year of a few hundred pounds. I didn't get any payment for about 6 weeks until it was cleared. Bigger amounts I think you can set up a payment plan.

Sorry for being nosey but have you only just had that tax credit period finalised?
