Hi I have been out of the workforce a while and claiming carers allowance for my disabled son.
However I have been offered a job as a lunchtime supervisory assistant in school whilst he is at school for 8 hours per week.
I know its not much but its a start and hopefully if all goes well I can get a full-time job later on.
My question is at the minute I claim a small amount if income support (single parent and carer) and child tax credit and carers allowance.
Does anyone know how these will be affected please?

Will I be worse off?
Thanks

No, I believe the earning maximum earnings when you receive carers allowance is £500 per month?

Earnings threshold for carers allowance is currently £128 a week. You might be better off switching to Universal credit as you can still get a carers element whatever amount you are earning. I would speak to CAB for a benefits check.

'Entitled to' is a good site to check out. You can compare it all there. You may be better off claiming Universal Credit. On Income Support (unless they've changed it) anything over £20 per week in wages is deducted if you are working under 16 hrs a week. If over that extras kick in. Whereas on Universal Credit is more flexible whatever hours you work. Just think carefully before moving to UC.
