Leaving my husband

I’ve name changed for this for obvious reasons. After 11 years together, I realise that I need to leave my husband. I’ve given myself a year to get some cash together so that me and my DD will be able to buy and move somewhere. I’ve been looking at LISA - can anyone with any knowledge tell me if they are worth putting money in to? I’ve been looking online and they all seem to say that they are stocks and shares and my money will be at risk? Where is the best place to open one?

I’ve also posted in one of the other forums but a poster suggested posting in here for some advice also. Thank you in advance.

Lisas are only really useful if you are planning on buying your first home or using it for retirement.

Are you getting them mixed up with a stocks and shares ISA? As that capital is at risk due to it being investigated in the stock market.

Would a cash ISA be better? Money Saving Expert compares savings rates of that helps you to decide which to get, although savings rates are pretty non existent at the moment.

Have you considered a regular saver

Yep there’s a lot of rules and one of them is it has to be for your first home - think that’s help to buy ISA but I think the other one you need to be a certain age. I was too old so had to save myself but worth taking those schemes as they give generous bonuses if you can

Wouldn’t your DH be entitled to some of that anyway?
