Lots (and lost) pensions from previous employment

Over past 20 years or so I have paid into various employer pensions, no idea where they are now or what to do. How do I find them and should I put them all in one pension?

Will there not be a record through your NI number and name?

Once you know what they are, you'll need to check and see if it's worth putting them a in one place (as some schemes still have reasonable benefits eg DB ones which have annual increases or DC ones with lower costs than others)

@Happymenu I'm not sure if putting them in one scheme (SIPP?) would be the best way to go, as there will be transfer fees and then management fees for funds going forward. Employer's schemes are usually very cost effective.
If it were me, I would:

  1. Find out what & where
  2. Contact the schemes - find out value/estimated value at retirement - find out what retirement age is being applied
  3. Update your details - name, address etc, beneficiaries - get online access to each scheme, where available
  4. Keep them where they are, and keep a file of their details
  5. Plan your retirement

Have you checked out your state pension entitlement? You can do that online. Need your information and NI number, and register on Government Gateway, I think it is.

Good luck! Hope you get a nice surprise!
