Universal credit change

Hi,

Me and my partner broke up when our son was 10 months old. I’ve claimed Universal credit since then and been a stay at home mum because i couldn’t afford nursery fees. My child is now attending nursery 2 days a week, so i’ve begun looking for work. Myself and my ex partner have been working on our relationship for the past year and have been “dating” again. We’ve decided that he’s going to move in with us. Does anyone know how to add a partner to the universal claim until i find a job?

Thank you

You'll need to log into your universally account online and select report a change of circumstances and add your partner. Your partner will then be asked to create his own universal credit account an then your 2 accounts will be linked.

Universal credit account sorry

A friend told me that they’re likely to investigate for fraud because we were previously partners. Is that the case? Sad i’m not sure if she’s just trying to scare me, although i know i haven’t done anything wrong.

I'm not sure about that but couples split up and get back together again all the time. I cant see them doing that. Just leave a note for them explaining your situation. So much easier with it all done online now

Don't worry about it. They won't investigate you for fraud simply for moving someone back in. People do this all the time. In any case, he will be able to prove he was living elsewhere anyway?

LifesLittleDeciders · 12/03/2021 17:25

He’ll be able to prove it but providing post that been addressed to him at a different address in the last however long you’ve been split up.

That’s what i thought! At the end of the day, if i was committing fraud i’d be wanting to hide him, not add him on! Although i am a worrier. He has been living at his mums, which makes me wonder if it’ll be an issue as he’s obviously been having mail delivered there, but there’s no rental agreement etc to say that he has been

It's a possibility but unlikely. they may ask for proof you were not living together. Has he been paying child maintenance etc via a bank account?
