Will this affect my universal credits?

Ive had to make a claim for universal credit as my mental health isn't great.
This is after only two weeks at the job.
Previously I was claiming ESA in the support group.
My last wage of £385 was paid on Friday.
I made the claim for universal credit on the Wednesday.
Will this mean my first month will be a reduced payment?
I'm worrying about it.
My anxiety is through the roof.

OP gingerbread helpline is very good. If you have children I would ring and ask them. I am sorry it hasnt worked out for you.

It depends, you can earn a certain amount before your UC gets reduced, this amount you can earn is higher if you claim for children as well or are disabled, it's reduced if you claim housing. If you look in your online account you should be able to see a breakdown of your allowance

Thankyou il look into that.
I've handed a fit note in as I have limited capability but because there is two weeks between me ending my esa Claim ..I have to fill in forms again.

Look at entitled to website it usually gives a good indication of what you are entitled to

Yes any wages reported in your assessment period will affect your Uc claim so as those wages were received after your claim started, there will be deductions. Are you still receiving esa, was this permitted work you were doing ? Or had your esa claim ended? If you have children then you will have a work allowance on your claim meaning that the first £292 of wages if you rent or £512 of earnings if you don't claim rent element are disregarded before earnings reduce your Uc so you may only have a small deduction for those wages if you ahve children.

Contact Citizens Advice, preferably by phone. They can look at your individual situation and give you clear advice. Good luck.

If you claimed UC before wages were paid, then yes it will affect your UC as you're already within your assessment period. However if you're eligible for a work allowance, for example, you are responsible for children, you may find those wages don't reduce your UC
