Looking for advice. My step daughter payed for her wedding buffet. She paid £300 deposit then paid £900 to completely pay for buffet. So total of £1200
This was paid January 2020. Wedding was cancelled it should have been in June 2020. She had no written contract just an invoice. She changed date to June this year thinking it would be over. So decided to cancel completely.
She expected to lose the £300. They have said they can keep all the money as she is cancelling. Is there any way to fight it? If they go to a solicitor it could cost them more than they will get back.
Is this legal? Do they just have to lose it all? They said they would do the buffet this year but won’t refund if cancelled.
