Insurance? Open water swimming

Don't know if this is right place to ask?

My family run a fitness business for which we have insurance. We want to start a group which involved a dip, paddle or short swim in the sea, followed by a workout and a coffee.

(Once restrictions have lifted)

Do we need any additional insurance? We have health and safety forms which need to be signed before attending.

I would have thought the place to start would be the small print in your existing policy to see what it covers.

Eg it might exclude water based activities or those in a public place rather than your own premises and clients homes, so if this is the case, the policy would need to be topped up.

I would ask your existing insurance company, not Mumsnet.

You could also ask one of the many OWS groups - if not in your area so not competition, they’ll probably happily tell you who they are insured through.

MN is a pretty odd place to ask something so important!

We are waiting for insurance to come back and have emailed other swimming groups. I wouldnt only ask mumsnet but often there are insurance / health and safety professionals on here as well.
