Life assurance

Hello
A lot of employers offer life assurance but just wondered if it’s worth also getting life assurance privately as well just in case you die out of service, eg. Between jobs etc.
Also I presume life assurance will cover you if you die when you retire? Is that correct?
Anyone recommend a good company to get life assurance with please

Your employer’s death in service will finish with your employment.
Your own life insurance you select it for the term that you need or have a whole-of-life policy which will run until you die.
You should get advice on what is a suitable cover for your personal circumstances.

It is sensible for all over age of 18 to have a life insurance policy to cover at least funeral costs and to leave a partner with a vision whilst they are grieving. In addition to this do.e companies will offer you free death in service but it stops the moment.you no longer work for them. The former can be a policy to last the whole of your life and the earlier.ypu start to pay the less your premium will be.

I have policy with LV. If you get life insurance go through Top Cashback as you can get a big pay back.

I have personal life insurance as well as employers as it’s cheaper the younger you are. I set it up in my 20s and just recently increased the payout on it. I’m an over insurer though with income protection too even tho employer offers it

I don’t agree with this. Life assurance is not free and it is highly unlikely that you would die that young.

However, as soon as you have dependents, it is a very good idea to have life assurance. Either to pay off a mortgage, support a surviving partner or children etc.

Thank you everyone, I am in my mid 50s and have only partner, no kids, just want to make sure it covers any mortgage and pension not great if one us dies then at least life insurance helps.

My life insurance is with vitality, quite different to normal approach where they have a health and well-being app you can do health assessments on and log fitness and lifestyle stuff. So basically the more you do they give you premium discounts. I prob don’t use it as much as I should!

Thank you @Yellow85😀
