As above.
I've stupidity given my manipulative father my account number and sort code.
He obviously also knows details such as my son and mother's maiden name, address etc.
Can he withdraw money from my account?

Nope. That's the sort of info you give anyone to transfer you money … they can't withdraw any.

Wonderwalk · 09/02/2021 12:37

No but they may be able to take a credit card out in your name so just be vigilant (if that’s a concern)

Marmite27 · 09/02/2021 12:39

If you’d have given him a cheque, that information is on there.

Of all the information you could have given him, this isn’t the worst. DO NOT give any passwords, or debit/credit card numbers, expiry dates or CVV numbers out.

tdm1 · 09/02/2021 12:40

And change any passwords or security questions based on the information he knows (mother's maiden name, d.o.b etc)

Yellow85 · 09/02/2021 12:43

No he can only pay money in 😅 you need the card number and now the security code to take money out...

Although thinking about it he could maybe set up a Direct Debit...

If they did set up a direct debit you could claim the money back fairly easily so try not to worry too much, he can't do much with a sort code and account number.

I think he'd need access to your email too, but I've been doing some things for DH, nothing underhand and nothing he doesn't know about, but it's astonishingly easy to reset passwords if you have access to his emails and know his personal details.

Thanks everyone.
I'm quite relieved -phew!
Although I do remember him asking my email address a few weeks ago but he didn't actually email what he said he was going to.
I'll keep a check ony account.
He asked for my details as he wanted to send some money for my dd's Birthday although after I sent my details he decided he wasn't sending any and would give her a gift when he saw her Hmm
