Childcare tax free/vouchers

I pay for 4 days childcare for my daughter and I have just changed jobs. This means that I have lost ability to claim childcare vouchers, as I cannot now apply for childcare vouchers with my new employer.
My husband is self-employed and whilst trying to keep his business going, is not quite earning enough profit at the moment for us to qualify for help with tax free childcare.

I would normally have received childcare vouchers as I am employed (with no connection to whether I have a partner or not). I also had thought that, if i could not apply for childcare vouchers, then it would change to an alternative system like tax-free childcare for which I would qualify! Does this means by changing my job I have lost the benefit of any help toward childcare, whilst others who have not changed employment still get?
Am I missing a link here?

I'm in a similar situation except that I haven't got a new job, I just previously didn't use childcare vouchers so would now need to use tax free ones. Except dh doesn't earn over the threshold atm.... it does seem from the Gov website that there aren't other options unless your dh is eligible for the self employment support scheme for covid? Or if his business is less than a year old?

It says for self employed, you can use the average of what he's expecting to earn in a tax year so perhaps that might help?

Isn't the threshold £100/week? For self employed can you average that out over the year?

superduster · 05/02/2021 23:36

@QforCucumber No its nearly £140 per week now, averaged over 3 months. I am in an odd situation where I qualify about 6 months of every year and then don't qualify the rest.

Does he get the self employment grant as that is taxable income so could count? If not can he get a part time job to top up his income? presumably if he isn't making a profit the equivalent of £140/week you have bigger problems than just not qualifying for tax free childcare.
