How much on bills per month?

My partner and I are looking to move into our first studio or 1 bed flat from a house share which had all bills included.

How much would you estimate bills would be? I know no one has a crystal ball, would just like an estimation of some kind

The council tax should be easy to find out. Water works out at roughly £150 per person per year. Energy bills vary enourmously depending on how often you're at home.

I’m going to follow this thread as I’m in the process of helping my DS move from a rented room in a house which has all bills included to a one bedroom flat.

I live alone in a 1 bed flat. My water is £ 14 a month. My electric ( im all electric) is about £30 @ month in summer and goes up to £55 is in winter. Though my latest bill was £70 , but I'm home more and its been cold. I try to be careful on usage as I don't have a high income

frustratedashell · 28/01/2021 12:45

I dont have Internet. I have 4G tablet. Contents insurance is about £5 @ month.

If you have a quick look on RightMove or Zoopla at similar sorts of properties then they often have a calculator that estimates ‘running costs’ for electric, water, etc.

Typical bills so you don't forget something;
Gas
Electric
Council tax
Broadband and line rental
Mobile contract
TV licence
Car insurance
ROad Tax
House content insurance
Netflix/Prime subscription

If it's a property was gas central heating and double glazing and is fairly newly built, the utility bills should be quite low. However, storage heaters and single glazing and old build lacking cavity wall etc will cost much more to heat.

Your rental agreement should show the EPC (energy performance certificate rating). E grade is the lowest allowed for rentals now.
