Is this worth getting legal advice over ?

In a nutshell :
Ex partner died recently. He emigrated while our daughter was a baby. I never received any money from him (if that’s relevant!).

I’m sure he transferred all his assets abroad where he ran a seemingly successful business for many (16 plus) years.
However there was a pension he paid into here which he may not have touched.

Is it worth me looking into this on daughter’s behalf before it’s too late ?

I think it's worth looking into, yes. A solicitor should not charge you a huge amount (if anything) for an initial appointment to review the situation and suggest what action could be taken. Obviously there are a whole heap of factors to consider and you/DD might not be entitled to anything, and you may find that actually making a claim against the estate/pension gets expensive esp if you need a specialist or a separate solicitor in the country of your Ex's residence but at least you'd go into that with eyes open and understanding the costs vs possible eventual payout. It seems silly to do nothing and not even ask just because it might cost a lot of money... it might even just be a case of writing to or contacting the pension company to make them aware he had a dependent/minor child....

Definitely look into this for your daughter!

If you know who he worked for then I'd contact them directly. Also, if he's got assets you can make a claim because your daughter was his dependant. Do you know if he left a will?
