Mortgage with IVA!?

Hi all
I’m new here so unsure if this is the right place to post..
So I’m married and just myself has gone into an IVA ( long story so much debt couldn’t manage it plus being on furlough for the past year Ish made keeping up with the repayments nearly impossible) . However my wife has good credit rating , so I was just wondering if one of us has an IVA and one not does that affect a joint mortgage? Or can she just put the mortgage in her name and I be a permitted occupier (like you can with renting) I’ve searched and searched the internet but can only seem to find advice to get an IVA mortgage , so In anyone’s opinion do you think we could apply jointly ( I do earn more than her) or would she just have to apply to get a better deposit amount (10% ish) with her good credit rating ? So confused and wondering if anyone had any experience and would like to share :)
ANY advice would be welcomed

Are you on a mortgage now? Do you need an IVA because of work reasons?

No mortgage now
No I just did it due to drowning in debt

Just wondering why an IVA and not bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy gives control of your money to other people and For someone with extreme anxiety it wasn’t for me ..

OK, that makes sense. She can get a mortgage in her sole name but you are unlikely to get a joint one due to your IVA.

Some lenders will allow it, others won't. You need to find and speak to a mortgage broker.

Thank you !

I recommend going to the money saving expert website. There is a mortgage advisor on there who has worked miracles for a few people I know. In fact I’ll find a thread she’s started and post it here. She started this one but it’s useful to post and get others advice as there are a lot of MAs on there. Good luck OP.
