Life insurance policy in trust

I'm looking at one of these to cover the inheritance tax bill when I die. I still have young children and I'm the main bread winner and my OH is a low income earner. Has anyone taken one of these out and can recommend any policy providers? My understanding is that I won't need an IFA and it's fairly straightforward to take out a life insurance policy. My understanding of this areas incorrect, I would appreciate being corrected. Thank you!

If you were married and your husband outlived you, there wouldn't be inheritance tax, would there?

Have you got any existing life insurance policies? My observation, as an IFA, is that a more usual priority would be to ensure that your surviving spouse and children are sufficiently provided for in the event of your death given that you are the main breadwinner.

Have you made a Will? Have you calculated the potential inheritance tax liability (if any) and considered what might be done to minimise any potential liability before you commit to paying for a life insurance policy?
