Money saving and frugal tips for 2021

Unsure if this is the correct topic for this..

In an effort to make a big push on saving for a house deposit, I'm currently looking for a job (have been a SAHM for 2 years with DS) and my partner works full time (£20k a year before tax)

We have no major outgoings apart from DS nursery fees (£689 a month for three full days) and paying my parents to live at theirs whilst we save (£250 a month)

No debt, credit cards or travel costs/car..

Obviously money is a bit tight and we could do with some advice/tips on cutting costs any where we can.
First I thought of was selling DS toys when outgrown or clothes etc.

Anything else?

Phone contracts are tied in for the next 18 month..

I need to boost my savings, and am doing the following:

  • set up "save the change" on my lloyds account;
  • Cancelled my gym membership - lockdown and no gym anyway...have bought equipment and am working out from home;
  • meal planning and trying to only buy what's necessary
  • using up what i have before buying new - so cosmetics, make up clothes - no buying new unless i need to.
  • paying myself first - when i get paid i set all standing orders to move the money around to savings on pay day so i don't see the money.
  • whenever i've had a pay rise, i've saved the "pay increase" bit.

no more teas and coffees out - because lockdown. we're not spending money on anything because lockdown.

i've also unsubscribed to all email newsletters from shops etc. so am not tempted to go online and buy things i don't need. when i do buy online though i go through topcashback.

I also signed up to save the change with lloyds bank.
Today i have written down all my bills and outgoings so eventually i can work on trying to reduce them. Or at least helps me know what has to be spent each month.

im also thinking about staying working from home permanently. this has saved me hundreds because i'm not popping to the shops....

I sadly dont have that option at the momwnt as on furlough from 2 part time retail jobs. Im hoping to take on a 3rd part time job this year.
