Mils will states 50% to my DH then 25% to each of our 2 adult children.DH is the excuter.
It is going through probate which should be straight forward as she had no house to sell.
Does the proceeds all go to Dh for him to divide. Or should he provide the solicitor their account numbers.

The solicitor distributes it in my experience if one is involved - otherwise an unscrupulous executor could do a bunk with the cash (not saying this is what your DH is planning Grin ). Previously I've received a cheque, or yes you could provide bank account numbers, although I would expect solicitor would want to check the details directly with the recipient rather than going off your DH's say so - for the same reasons as above... best to check with the solicitor what their normal practice is?

I'm doing my mums - no solicitor - I got it all told my brother what it was and split it as the will said

When my father's estate was being dealt with, the solicitor paid out all the funds, and contacted me as executor to ask whether the various beneficiaries (myself, my brothers and sister and my children and my sister's, who were all adults) would prefer their shares to be paid by cheque or direct to the bank. I provided addresses for myself, my brothers and my daughter, and bank details for my son, who preferred direct payment, and my sister gave details for herself and her children. As far as I know, the solicitor didn't make any checks directly with the other beneficiaries, though actually it's difficult to see how she could, as she wouldn't know any contact details for them except those provided by me.

If a solicitor is involved thry usually take responsibility for it.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/12/2020 23:11

My dh as executor has done it more than once.

Giraffey1 · 27/12/2020 23:15

Executors are responsible unless a solicitor is involved.

I would not be paying for a solicitor to divid money up which could easily be done for free by the executor

even if the solicitor has completed probate for you there are things you can do yourself to save on costs
