So I claim uc and last month noticed that there was a tax credit recovery of £102. Today I get a message to look at my journal so I do and it says that there is going to be council tax recovery from my uc payments. Both of these are my creditors and I'm paying them through my iva. Called the council and yep the payments they are trying to take is for the years that I'm paying them back for already. Dwp are saying that it's now uc debt and that I should be talking to them. I'm being passed about and don't know who to talk to?! I can't afford to lose this money hence why I've entered into an iva to begin with and now they are trying to recover the money through uc what do I do has this happened to anyone? I need help?

If you're in an IVA, you need to get help from your supervisor.

Do rent or own your home and is there a realistic chance of you increasing your income in future? If the answer to both those questions is no, and especially if your council tax and TC debts would be included (they should be) it might be worth you applying for bankruptcy or a Debt Relief Order. IVAs are usually only relevant if you have assets like a property to protect, or would lose your job if you became bankrupt - if neither of these apply to you, you might need advice on all this. Have a look at the moneysavingexpert advice on debt management.
