I'm confused Confused

My tax (self employed) is coming out at £9,911

Is that about right?

@LaurieFairyCake

I also think SchoolNightWine is right

It means I've overpaid and the calculation isn't right - I was paying up til February this year (including the On Account payments) and I think I've already paid about £4K

I stopped when Covid hit and then delayed my tax return as HMRC asked people to - so it's now due in by January

Have you completed the section to say how much tax you have already paid during the year? It will always calculate the total amount of tax and NI due and then will deduct any tax already paid to give the figure you owe by 31st Jan, but only as long as you input it all correctly.

I wonder if you didn't initially complete the payments on account section correctly, so it was bringing forward last years tax due as well?

I'm a bookkeeper and process many tax returns:-)

I don't remember HMRC asking people to delay submitting their tax returns, but you could delay your payments on account. More info here:

£5,569. + £4,000 on account.

I have never filed on line before. I've been trying to do it for months but I keeps denying me access. I've sent off for so many 7 day access codes it's a joke. Does anyone know how to help. I just want to send in my figures. 🙈

Thank you, my Dsis knows she was late doing hers but I was interested to find out if there might have been some allowance. Hopefully @LaurieFairyCake can help with some more info

Keep doing it hopefully it will keep going down lol. X

@satnighttakeaway They did extend the deadline for filing the previous years accounts (which should have been filed by 31/1/20), to April so that people didn't lose out on the self employed grant. I can't find the HMRC page about that just now though.

Have you got into your account at all? The 7 day access code is usually a 6 digit number sent to a mobile you have registered. Can also be a landline or via an app, but mobile number is the easiest way.
