Pokemon Cards - how can I tell if they're valuable?

Just that really. Can anyone recommend a reliable website that will help me to value my cards? Ebay is so inconstant, I looked up one of the cards on there and the same card was there for £2 and also £236. I do understand condition will impact the value.

Go onto a website that sells them? That’s not eBay. I mean.

Magicmadhouse is one

Although I don’t have experience with Pokemon cards, I have with other collectible card games. It depends on how you intend to sell them, really. MagicMadhouse is a great shop but you won’t get the same prices selling your cards as they list on there if you were to sell them to a store, on ebay, or Facebook marketplace etc. If you charge the same as a major web store, the buyer might as well buy from that store and take advantage of loyalty schemes and returns policies etc.

www.TCGplayer.com is a sight I’ve used for pricing other card games. The prices are based on actual market prices that the cards have recently been selling at. It’s in dollars, and I know for quick sale people often just switch the dollar sign for pounds (so $1.99 becomes £1.99 rather than converting value). You can generally ask for more on eBay than on Facebook trade groups or selling in shops, as people shopping on eBay are looking for quick and convenient buys and will pay more.

Value is dependent on current play-ability. Theres been a recent power slip with the latest releases this year and we are expecting a rotation out of B&W (if it hasn't happened this year, I've been a bit out of it) both of which will make prices volatile. You're perhaps better searching the completed eBay listings.

On Ebay you need to look at sold prices not what people are asking for a better idea
