Body shop rep.... worth it?

I'm looking at becoming a Avon or body shop rep for some extra cash whilst I'm on maternity leave. Has anybody had any experience with either? Is it worth it? Thanks 😊

Take a look at the MLM threads which are floating about right now.

PatchworkElmer · 11/11/2020 18:32

They’re both MLMs- I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole

LunaLoveFood · 11/11/2020 18:33

Please please please don't. You will end up losing more money than you make. Take a look at the many mlm threads that there are.

Shaniac · 11/11/2020 18:38

Depends how committed you are. My dsil does avon. It doesn't pay great but it gives her pocket money and she gets free products and it keeps her busy as she's a full time carer.

NeverTwerkNaked · 12/11/2020 11:36

I would steer clear, you are unlikely to make much money and you are highly likely to annoy all your friends and family when they feel obligated to buy from you

PizzaForOne · 12/11/2020 16:09

Avoid.

You will spend a few hundred on products and are unlikely to recoup this outlay.

Even if you vs the amount of effort you put in, likely to make very little.

You will also piss off all your friends and family harassing them to buy some of the products you have been lumbered with. Your upline will encourage/pressure you to do this. You potentially will lose friendships or worsen them

GreyishDays · 12/11/2020 16:10

Won’t you be busy looking after a baby? Smile

WoWsers16 · 12/11/2020 16:40

I know have at least 7 close friends / family doing body shop - honestly the market is so full at the moment of people doing this it's crazy!
I did Avon a while back but spent more money on catalogues and bits and it doesn't give enough to warrant doing it.

I don't think they're the best 2 to do x

NerrSnerr · 12/11/2020 17:21

No no no. The market is saturated and everyone who knows you will roll their eyes thinking you're going to be trying to recruit them, sell them stuff or try to take part in raffles.

Chewwithyourfuckingmouthclosed · 12/11/2020 17:25

Absolutely not.
I temporarily unfollow any friends that take up either.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 12/11/2020 18:25

For the love of god dont do it....everyone will be rolling their eyes behind your back...I lose all respect for anyone getting involved with an mlm...enough info on the internet to show that these are scams.

peachypetite · 12/11/2020 18:27

NO!

I briefly had a stint as a bodyshop rep - I bought the kit super cheap (after being talked into hosting a party) on the thinking that if it didn't take off then I could at least have all this nice stuff.

They really pressured me I wanted to do one party a week (they said that I should aim for 3-4!!) the regional manager lived and breathed bodyshop!!

Anyway so I stuck to my guns and did my first few parties (1 maybe 2 a week) and did ok as it was around Christmas and I did my daughters nursery Christmas Fayre and had lots of orders from people and did a Great raffle but then nobody wanted to book a party which was the plan to get leads! so the sales were good but then in the January - nothing!
January and February was dead - nobody wanted anything and they were pestering me all the time and then in March covid hit.
At their request I set up a Facebook page and tried monthly raffles and all sorts but people weren't interested. They had other things on their mind and also, as people have said, there's so many people doing it.

I didn't loose any money but I didn't make much either but I gave it up. I didn't invest in tonnes of "props"'and stuff but I managed to sell my stationery, brown paper bags etc to another rep but this other rep had a whole room at her house FULL of stock but I always operated on a "there's the samples" (basically my kit) but I only ordered things people actually paid for otherwise there would be a danger of being left with random stuff.
