Scottish Property/Asset Law: Fencing Agreement?

Hi-

Back before Lockdown, I went to see an advisor at a Solicitor's firm (I think a paralegal rather than a fully qualified solicitor herself) to seek advice regarding protecting my investment in our family home.

She suggested that they could prepare a 'Fencing Agreement', which would set out my contribution to the deposit, and my share of the mortgage payments and house overall. This would cost around £600 plus tax.

Has anyone here any experience with these, and are there any potential pitfalls? Also, does the charge seem reasonable? I did email a few firms to get a comparison and got figures that varied wildly..!

(NB: updating our mortgage to add my name at the moment is not possible for various reason- and I was to specifically protect the deposit which I contributed.)

Thanks in advance Smile

Sorry OP, I came on because i thought it was going to be about who owned your garden fences! I have some knowledge about that, but not the type of fencing you mean Smile

Ha! Maybe I shouldn't have used that in the title... thanks anyway. I know who to come to for disputes about literal fences in future though, eh? Grin

Ah, there's a disappointment. Was all ready to get excited about fences (the wooden kind).
Very sorry OP, but I know nothing about other kinds of fencing. Sounds interesting!
