Car insurance high?

So I drive a 2014 polo, tiny engine (1.2) and my car insurance is not going down Grin
36, passed at 17, did a pass plus and have 6 years no claims. I did have an accident in 2016 but TBH it wasn't cheap before then. In 2014 I lost my no claims as my car came with free insurance which didn't protect my no claims (I realised later..) and someone punched my car causing £1000 worth of damage. That's dropped off but they counted it as a fault because they couldn't obviously claim back off a pedestrian

Is it likely to be my area or how much I drive or... I would like a car with a bit more power in the future and my insurance is still coming in around £550 per year. I know that's not massively high but I'm driving a car with no acceleration capacity Grin
No convictions, never had a speeding ticket, clean driving license

Mileage?

Where you live - not necessarily a good or bad area, but somewhere with a lot of accidents or claims.

Your occupation could be one that's expensive to insure, often for what sounds like ridiculous reasons.

Money saving expert has an article with tips on how to reduce your insurance.

Also can you add a partner or other second driver even if they'll rarely or even never (but they could, eg if you sometimes go on days out with a parent or sibling, you might feel tired sometimes so can share driving) drive your car, as that will make it cheaper.

Maybe you're still 'too young' and it might get cheaper when you're over 40?

I've just been quoted £250 for a Mini cooper with zero no claims (ex company car driver) but I'm a decade older than you.

I think that it definitely has something to do with your no claims or the area you live. In comparison i am a 35 female who passed at 17, i have 8 years no claims and have just insured a 2010 3l jaguar xf for less than 500.

My mileage is low, probably 6000-7000 a year
Occupation I have down as aftersales (I work for a car brand)
