PIP decision after phone assessment

Hi all!
I was just wondering when you were notified of a decision being made after your telephone PIP assessment?
I had one a week ago and am anticipating hearing by the end of next week - is that reasonable?

Nope lol.

My son had his 3rd September and was notified 5th October of the award. It appears thats pretty standard.

Qwom · 09/10/2020 15:43

Oh, well I suppose it will be backdated if there is any. Thanks for posting :)

Is it a transfer from DLA?

LastRoloIsMine · 09/10/2020 15:47

If its a new claim it will be backdated to the day you called them to ask for a form. My sons was backdated to March.

Babyroobs · 09/10/2020 15:55

Our service has had loads of phone ones turned down recently but hopefully you will be awarded.

Qwom · 09/10/2020 16:28

I was a new claim for symptoms associated with my severe depression and anxiety.the lady seemed quite encouraging 🤷🏻‍♀️

@LastRoloIsMine did your sons payments go up with PIP from DLA? Sorry not being too nosy I hope but I’m on the same position and just applying. But think ds will qualify for more than with dla looking at the criteria and what he can’t do.

LastRoloIsMine · 09/10/2020 16:55

He was never on DLA as he was over 16 by the time we had a diagnosis. He was awarded enhanced daily living.

Its ok to be nosey Grin

LastRoloIsMine · 09/10/2020 16:59

Qwom I dont want to put a dampener on things but unless your depression & anxiety majorly affect your daily living i doubt you will score enough points to meet the standard rate.

Babyroobs is right they are turning down more than they award at the moment so just be prepared to make a mandatory reconsideration.
Hopefully you will be "lucky" and be awarded a rate.Smile

Hi @lastrololsmine , thanks for your post.
I am currently under the care of the local mental health team, after numerous attempts on my own life, and am seen regularly by my psychiatrist. I also take medication which is controlled by my OH as I'll OD if left in charge of it, on top of other things I struggle with on the daily. I hope my illness is assessed fairly as i feel it's daily effects are serious enough to warrant a PIP. I will just have to wait and see

The key to success is often providing the medical evidence of the difficulties you have, so if you have provided medical letters / reports from health care professionals you will hopefully be awarded.

I did send hospital reports and appointment letters and care plans. I probably sent too much tbh, but thought best to

I don't think you can ever send too much as long as it's relevant. Good luck.
dorispiffle · 10/10/2020 02:43

You can phone and ask for a copy of the assessors report which should give an indication of any award given. If you don't get it , please ask for a mandatory reconsideration. And join https://www.a1benefitsupport.com/claiming-pip-main-index via fb - they are amazingly helpful and free. Good luck Thanks

Qwom · 13/10/2020 13:20

Welp! Just got a text from DWP saying they have just recieved my assessment report and I'll hear from them within 8 weeks so I guess that answers my question! 😅

If they have the report, phone and ask fir a copy - you can see where you've scored in advance of the dwp decision

Definitely get a copy of the report. You can look up pip scoring online and see what points you should have got and it will give you some idea of what to expect. They usually go with the assessors report.
