Hello all, just been on the gov website regarding chid tax credits and working tax credits. According to the information I put in, we may get £38 every 4 weeks towards household costs. It goes up to over £200 if we paid for child care, we don’t , I’m on maternity leave until next April and haven’t paid for child care before -although we may have to consider this.
So DH works 39 hrs a week. Last tax year he earned £23,500. His basic is £22000, his total includes overtime he did over 12 months. He’s a bus driver if that’s relevant and weekly paid.
I earned £12500 pounds last tax year and work 24 hrs a week. I normally take home around £800 every 4 weeks. I work in a supermarket, currently on maternity leave.
We have a five year old and a newborn who is 6 weeks old.
DH has been offered a new job in January, he will start on a starting salary of £22000, so not much different to what’s he currently but it’s a job he’s wanted to do.
So does anyone think my calculations are correct? I’m sure when I tried the turn2us website it said we weren’t entitled to anything ,yet the gov website say we are, or may be.
The £200 if we pay for child care sounds too generous. This was calculated if we pay £60 per week for childcare.
When I return to work we will struggle with childcare, that’s why I’m looking into this.
