October's Daily Savings

Not sure if anyone is interested, but like the thread on earning a tenner a day, I wanted to record how I save each day this month.

October 1st accomplishments were finding petrol significantly cheaper and filling up. I know it sounds silly but probably saved me a few quid. Also I declined an offer to have a take out meal with friends tomorrow (it's a set menu and would be £15 plus probably another £8 in petrol as the friend's large garden we'd eat in is quite a distance from my home). Finally avoided the shops while my dc was at after school activity and likely saved a good £10 I'd spend on bits and bobs we can do without.

Total saving roughly £37.

Anyone else?

@Irisheyesrsmiling I will most certainly join in on this - starting tomorrow.... today has been a shit show of spending 🤦🏻‍♀️ I need to get a control on it !!! Hot chocolates, takeaway and a lot of other unnecessary things!

Totally understand @Isobels!! Please do join in! I kept myself from spending today by thinking about this thread!

Okay so today despite driving by my favourite coffee shop that has the most lush food, I saved the £4 or so it would have cost for a small coffee and muffin.

I also found a pressie I'd put aside and was worried I'd have to buy something else. Must get more organized. Saved £10 and used a card I had on hand £2. Would have been easier to pop to the shop, but was determined.

Also made a list of bills to follow up on to try and get rates cut. That's tomorrow's job.

Well done! I am too lazy to post regularly but like the ideas on this thread and always need to save money. Will try to join in.

Saved approximately £9 today.

We go out for coffee ever day, restrictions permitting, because DH would spend 18 hours in front of his computer as he works from home. We’ve got into a bad habit of going out a 1pm and ending up buying lunch instead of eating at home.

Today I refused to buy more than a coffee, when we returned he had soup and I leftovers from last night’s dinner.

Forgot to say, when I was working I used to keep snacks in my bag and I need to get back to doing that. For me it was nuts and when I had an early start a small glass jar with yoghurt and home made granola so that I wasn’t tempted to buy pastries.
