I owe money on a budgeting loan I had earlier in the year.
Payments were suspended over the last few months but they’ve just written to me to say they will start taking payments again from my income support at a rate of £22 a week.
My income support will have stopped though as I started work recently, does anyone know at what rate they take repayments for the loan once you’ve started work, I am happy to pay at that current rate but anymore and will Leave myself short as I’m now paying for things like school dinners, full council tax etc

Paying back the loan

A Budgeting Loan is interest free so you only pay back what you borrow.

“The repayments will be taken automatically from your benefits. The amount you repay is based on your income - including any benefits you receive - and what you can afford.

After you apply for a Budgeting Loan, you’ll get a letter telling you if you’ve been offered a loan. The letter explains how much your weekly repayments would be if you accept the loan.

You normally have to repay the loan within 2 years (104 weeks). If you stop getting benefits, you’ll need to arrange another way to repay.”

Income based but also what you can afford, so if you work out your expenses and can show that to them that would be a good start

Thank you that’s helpful, I did try to ring today but didn’t get through before offices closed.
Going to make a note of my expenses this evening in preparation though, thank you
