Hi all - apologies if this subject has been exhausted on other threads! I'm new to this site and wanted to see if any other mums have experienced anything similar? My ex husband has just informed me , completely out of the blue that he is ceasing the children's maintenance (£85 P/W) as he has been made redundant. This was a shock as the money is really helpful. I have a senior position in the financial services industry and work full time, so I can support myself and the children without any help from him, however I am so cross that the children have absolutely no claim on his redundancy package which with 10 years service be huge! My issue is how this is handled by the CMS, I mean your responsibility to your children is still there weather you have a job or not!! This is the same guy that took me to court to have child arrangement order put in place so he could see the children 2 days a fortnight!!
Sorry if this seems ranty, I just can't get my head around how its ok to simply drop the ball financially! - Anyone else had any similar situations?

Your moral obligation to your children is still there, but unfortunately the financial obligation is very limited. If he goes on benefits for example, the default is £7 per week...
