Cancellation insurance?

Hi all, I’m thinking of booking tickets for a comedy tour date in the US for Oct 2021.

Someone suggested paying on a credit card and getting cancellation insurance for the tickets and flights.

I don’t have a credit card. I haven’t seen cancellation insurance separate from travel insurance. The tickets would only be $100-$200 at this point (although flights will be £800 for two plus accommodation for a week plus) Dont especially want to spend £80 (with £50 excess!), which is cheapest I’ve seen so far.

Anyone have this or have any tips?

Honestly, just get a credit card. The protection you get is invaluable and there's loads of other advantages to having one.

But you'd only get the tickets refunded if the cost is more than £100, although if the gig is cancelled, you should be given a refund.

Mine allowed me to buy new flights when Monarch went bust 2 days before they went bust and refunded the cost of the lost flights and the extra cost of more expensive short notice flights.

If you're booking flights, you need to get travel insurance straight away. However, I'm not sure if any will include COVID related cancellations and if it does, it is likely to be more expensive.

However, if you're planning to travel to the US just for the gig, and then it is cancelled, you might not be able to cancel your flights as the airline won't care why you wanted to travel.
