NatWest and mortgage refusal

Hello all,
Anyone on here who works in a high up position for NatWest,
My high earning son has been refused, the only info we have found out is that they have found someone with his exact first and middle names but a miss spelled last name, we are talking one letter missing.
Son does not and never has had a NatWest account. (Has approached them for mortgage only)
Son has used a broker, who we think entered the surname wrongly.

Meanwhile his very good credit rating has gone down due to the hard search,
What to do ?? Any ideas but only if you actually work for the bank, we are doing all the obvious other things

The broker would have done a soft search long before the application went in to do a hard search. So it can’t really be the name.

Ask the broker to see the application?

My seat is quite low actually but I can stand up if it makes you feel any better?

Surely if they have conducted a hard credit search on his file then they have the right person? On a side note, his credit score is useless, his credit history is the key.

NatWest only do hard search no soft search first. Get the broker to check everything and send NatWest his Equifax report?

Ask them if they checked the right person as it's not just name surely, the DOB and current address is used to credit search.

You can file a complaint and they will do a thorough investigation into this and come back to you with a more thorough response.

Obtain a copy of copy of your son's Equifax report and check it for anything that needs updating.

Obtain a copy of the application the broker sent and check that too.

Agree that you need a copy of the application and a copy of the communciation received from Natwest.

False positives do happen but as PP have said for a mortgage app they will check address and and DOB not just full name.

Does the name on the form not match the name on the bank statements and payslips? And on the ID provided eg passport?
