Clearing debts

Hello, can anyone advise me?

This might be obvious but is there a company or a place that can tell you all of the debts you have to pay off in one?

I've accumulated quite a bit over the years and I'm trying to pay it all off but finding it hard to pinpoint what they all are.

Am I making sense? Is it something I will find on my credit report and will there be an option to do a payment plan for all involved? I'm not good with having things all over the place.

Could you get a loan from your bank at a decent APR to consolidate it all?

My credit history wouldnt allow for a loan, which is why I'm trying to pay it all off.

Is it credit card debt? If so use the standing order method.

Example minimum payment £19 this month pay £20, then £20 next month. Each month you chop away at the amount and so the interest charge reduces with each payment.

Write a budget, or a simple list of outgoings/monthly bills and costs then see what is left over, or where you can cut back to free up more money for the debts.

Good luck.

Have you tried checking your credit reports?
Most debts should be listed on them.

Sounds like you need a thorough review of everything, but no-one can advise exactly what you need to do from the little information in your post.

What you need to do depends on how much debt you have, what interest is being charged and how much disposable income you have available to pay it. This could be anything from cutting back a bit to bankruptcy or another formal solution.

Your credit file is a good place to start but if you have debts that are not loans or credit cards, they might not appear on it. Eg if you're behind on something like council tax then it wouldn't appear until you had a CCJ.

Have a look at the MSE debt help guide and do everything that is relevant

I'd recommend contacting one of the debt charities like StepChange; they'll be able to point you in the right direction regarding locating all of your debts and may be able to help you with setting up an arrangement to pay them all. Creditors are often far more cooperative if you've gone through this process than they are to deal with directly.

Go onto Money Saving Expert and look at the "Credit Club" this shows you your credit report for free and it will include a list of all of your debts.
