Mortgage with first direct?

Hello,

Looking at mortgages as a first time buyer. I do most of my banking with first direct, has anyone had a mortgage with them? If so, what checks do they do? I have an old current account I no longer use but used to use it for betting and would rather no disclose.

And how are they generally?

Thanks in advance.

Just got our mortgage offer this morning! So quick and easy. Hope it's the same for you @shiveringwiggles 🙏

Can you tell me - is it for first home?

Heard that lenders are asking for larger deposits since lockdown.

My daughter is selling her house and hasn't had much interest and was told (by estate agent) it's because lenders want a 20% deposit now.

@PianoPants that's so quick! Congratulations! 🎉 Did that include a desktop valuation too?

@DollyScrobbler first direct withdrew 10% deposits on 28/7 I think. Before that, they were one of the view still offering.

PianoPants · 25/08/2020 14:59

@shiveringwiggles desktop valuation took around 5 working days and yes was included in the super fast time line!

@dollyscrobbler we had a 15% deposit which I believe is the lowest any bank is accepting at the moment.

@shiveringwiggles hello! Thought I'd check in and see how things are going?

@PianoPants hello there! We have our mortgage offer, so thankfully all our bank stress is over! We've recently found out that our vendor has only just applied for probate for the house we're purchasing though, so who knows how long it'll be :-(

Hope yours is much further along! Do you have a date?

PianoPants · 03/10/2020 14:35

@shiveringwiggles that's so annoying. But so happy to hear you got it! Congratulations! Wine. We were so lucky. Our place was actually sold as part of a part house exchange for a new build so the contractors just wanted it off their hands and we moved in on Friday!

@PianoPants @shiveringwiggles we have applied for FTB mortgage with FD and they have not requested any payslips or bank statements. I called them the other day and they said they were going to put a memo for the underwritters to do the valuation. We had our mortgage appointment on the 3rd of September...what are the steps after the valuation? Thanks!

PianoPants · 06/12/2020 19:27

@mrsshopaholic88 sorry just seen this. Did you get it sorted in the end?

@shiveringwiggles how is yours coming along?

Hi @PianoPants, we got it sorted at the end. We had the mortgage offer sent and now waiting for completion!
They missed sending us an email with the link to upload the supporting documents and that was holding up everything.
