House management file

I'm just wanting to set up a file where I can get all the information on who our service providers are for utilities etc and how much it is and when the contract ends etc. Has anyone got any tips or templates? Just want to be a bit more organised and in control.

I have individual folders for
Car, V5, insurance, MOT, AA breakdown, service invoices
House, insurance, community charge, gas and electricity bills
Pension, pension statements
Certificates, anything that relates to the house that would need to be passed on to a new owner if we sold and moved. e.g. gas, Fensa (windows) planning approval, building regs. compliance.
... and a spreadsheet that has all the renewal dates (which I never seem to look at)

This is what I call organised! This is how I want to be! At the moment I have paper work everywhere and emails to say my I insurances have been automatically renewed😬

By folders I mean physical ring binders with those plastic pockets things, I also have folders on my PC with similar grouping to store all the electronic documents.

I have 2 ring binders one for fixtures and large stuff and another for small stuff. Everything in their own plastic pockets with a label which sometimes had date of purchase on it.

I have a drop file with sections where paperwork is filed, and an A3 calendar stuck on the utility wall with birthdays, renewal dates etc.

I use templates like this printsbery.com/planner-templates/budget/bills I have a filing cabinet, with hanging files for my business, taxes, medical, etc. Before I put something in the filing cabinet, I ask myself when I will be removing it from the cabinet. I don't file many things, so I can be very lazy about purging documents: at the start of 2019, I'll purge 2017 business, 2017 medical, and 2016 taxes.
This system isn't for everyone, but it gives me enough distance and peace of mind that I'm not shredding something too early or constantly scanning everything and wasting my time digitally archiving things I won't need in three months.
