Erudio student loans -passed loan to debt collection

Help!

Due to being in very high risk for covid all my support was stopped in March. I'm not allowed anyone in to help (even if I was willing). My mental health has severely declined. I can't defer online as my equipment won't run it and I don't have the evidence they need as council didn't send it out "due to risk".

I rang. I explained.

Today they've sent me three letters, dividing the single loan amount back into three separate loans and informed me I owe them hundreds more than the single payment I missed. They're referring me for debt collection.

Next week my landlord is due to to a credit check - this has been referred and I've already lost my credit cards and had my overdraft cancelled by bank, clearly this is why.

I've no help whatsoever. CAB don't exist here. I tried their online service only to be told they don't do student loans. My social worker has refused to have anything to do with me during lockdown as has my GP - so I can't have any help from council. They offered me a "worker" but that was the woman who has assulted me, the next person was the man who abuses me as well (they're ill so got through checks).

What am I supposed to do? I can't get through to them. I don't even know who they've given all the loans too. It now shows I've defaulted on three separate loans, when they amalgamated all the loans into one.

I'm already struggling hugely with deterioating mental and physical health and this is too much for me to cope with. I've never missed a payment. Never not deferred. Warned them weeks before payment was due. I can do nothing about it and now it looks like I'm going to be homeless back on the street as well as I can't afford a home with all my cards and everything cancelled I can't even now pay my monthly rent on this dump.

I don't understand why they've pulled the loans apart, making it three missed payments so it must go to the debt collectors and causing severe problems with other things.

Our library won't reopen until January (I need help with form, every year someone has met me there and helped but that help has stopped as well), same goes for the council offices.

Help. Please. I'm really scared.

I don’t really understand how you have the technology to post here but not to defer your loan. I had to email my stuff in as they lost my deferment application. I think you need to suck it up and just send copies of your bank statements. Of course they have private information but I doubt that will be of interest to the loan companies. There is nothing else you can do really.

RedHelenB · 24/07/2020 23:30

You can black out your sort code etc, and any transactions that are personal and just highlight your benefit one and any from work/furlough.

WatchingFromTheWings · 24/07/2020 23:33

@FrankieChips I agree with you. The last couple of years deferment has been made so much easier by having the ability to just screen shot bank statements (no account numbers or identifying info is visible) and send them via the website. It stores all the info from previous deferments too so you don't have to re-input everything each time. Takes 5 minutes. And you get about 6 weeks (at least) notice to do it.

Becca19962014 · 24/07/2020 23:36

Sorry I asked.
They are the ones LYING not me.

You're all extremely lucky to live in areas where everything is open and accessible to you. I don't.

And, no I can't just phone crisis team, don't be so silly. They're referral only and only for those meeting criteria for sectioning which I don't.

Their website doesn't work on my device.
Neither does my banks.
Nor do I have a fucking photocopier to take copies of anything.
Nor do I have access to a fucking post office which only came here once a week before covid but I'm sure you all do.

If I had access ID HAVE DONE THOSE THINGS.

Fuck sake.

Try phoning StepChange - they give debt advice and their number is free-phone:

www.stepchange.org/contact-us.aspx

0800 138 1111 Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm

I hope you can get it sorted out Flowers.

jay55 · 24/07/2020 23:56

Would Christians against poverty or Stepchange be able to help? As you don't have cab in your area.

3cats · 25/07/2020 00:11

You still need to sort this out. Can you call your bank and ask them to send you copies of your last three bank statements and then call the loan company to ask them to post you the form again? You asked for help, so please don’t get angry at those who are trying to help you.

MrsMoastyToasty · 25/07/2020 00:22

Look at www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk

They have lots of useful information about debts and where you can get help locally (although it will probably be by phone, given the current situation).

2155User · 25/07/2020 08:20

Wow, you’re losing more and more of my sympathy with every reply you type.

DoIneed1 · 25/07/2020 08:26

Op people are trying to help. Some of your posts are quite unclear.

Mydogisthebestest · 25/07/2020 08:37

If you have a local church, could you ask someone there to help? They’ll have access to tech and printers etc

Mydogisthebestest · 25/07/2020 08:42

Could you ask the council to email the evidence direct to Erudio?

HerRoyalPain · 25/07/2020 13:54

Flowers im sorry becca you're really having a tough time at the minute.

For those saying screenshot, not all online banking allows it. Mine doesn't. I have to photograph physical evidence and attach it that way. Which as OP doesn't have access to a printer at the minute, and a lot of companies are not sending physical letters due to covid, thats not possible.

As for the crisis team, im in an area with much better provision for mental health than the OP and theyre still shit. I've phoned for myself, in tears wanting to die and all they've done is told me to contact my care coordinator. Who was on annual leave. This is a common occurance.

I know becca has spoken to her MP about things already, asking for help. They seem to brush off her concerns.

The volunteers she mentions are just that. Volunteers with no qualifications in anything. One of these has been verbally abusive to the op, and the other physically so of course she doesnt want to give them her personal information. There is no one else available in her area.

She feels ostracised from her local church due to a lot of other problems that she has, and which I will not disclose as it is not my place to do so.

If i was closer and in a better physical and mental state I'd help her myself. Unfortunately I'm not.

She just wanted advice on what to do, and she has some obstacles that she has to overcome. She needs advice and support not people telling her she's making excuses.

Shes a very ill woman for God's sake.

Mydogisthebestest · 25/07/2020 13:58

All of that notwithstanding, why can’t she ask the council to email the information direct to Erudio?

3cats · 25/07/2020 13:58

So, what is your advice then? @HerRoyalPain

Mydogisthebestest · 25/07/2020 13:59

And, you know, at some point she has to take responsibility for her own actions.

If she has excluded herself from the local church, that’s unfortunate, but she is the one who feels ostracised. Has she actually asked them for help?

3cats · 25/07/2020 14:01

I'm not being snarky by the way. I just don't see how tea and sympathy will help the OP. As hard as it is, she needs to find a solution to this problem. Whether that is trying to find a volunteer to help her or contacting one of the companies suggested. She needs to do something or it's just going to get worse.

Just so you’re aware.
You’re situation sounds very upsetting.

Mydogisthebestest · 25/07/2020 14:39

Right. I must be being thick.

The op, on a thread recently, has taken a screenshot.

So why is it not an option to ring the bank, get statements sent out, block out the confidential info, photograph them and email them?

Apologies if there’s something I’ve missed

scorpio9 · 02/10/2020 12:14

hi it makes no difference what you do or say they only want your money and they will lie and cheat to get it. i have been at war with them for 5 years. ALL th companies they use are just shell companies. they are scammer and they will only refuse any info you send them
they want your money it does not matter if you can defer they refuse to do so. It is time to rise up and fight them.
they took me to court now i have a CCJ because they lied to a judge saying i did not communicate with them when I did via resolver but they decided not to answer. tell them to drop dead

Xenia · 02/10/2020 13:39
