Lost lodger income due to Covid

Hi, I wondered if anyone knows about any help for people who were relying on lodger income and now can’t have lodgers due to Covid? We were just about to take on a new lodger when Covid kicked off, but because I am shielding, we had to tell him he couldn’t move in. This means we’re several hundred quid a month worse off - not helped by the fact I lost my job due to incapacity in December, so I was very much relying on the income from the lodger. Is there any help for me? Thank you

No there's nothing to replace lost lodger income you just have to take the loss.

Wouldn’t imagine so, for obvious reasons. I guess anyone could step forward and say the same if government said they would provide financial help.

No.

No there's no help, for losing a lodger. If you lost your job due to not being able to work due to illness then you may be able to claim a contribution based benefit like new style ESA if you have paid sufficient NI contributions over the past few years or means tested benefits like UC but that would depend on other income and savings.
