Great Feeling

My husband and I have always had debts. We recently owed approx £30k on credit cards, which we move from one 0% card to another periodically. We also had a car loan etc. We earn well and these debts are totally manageable, but they were starting to play on my mind. We still travel and go out etc (which is probably what got us into this debt in the first place). However, we recently came into a lump sum and have been lucky to pay all our debts off. I've still got a year left of 0% interest on one of my cards, so it's not the shrewdest move to pay it now. However, psychologically it's such a great feeling to have NO debts. I don't think I realised that deep down these debts were actually weighing me down. I'm going to work hard to stay debt free!!!

It’s a great feeling! Well done!

That’s brilliant OP

I can imagine that’s a most amazing feeling and will now free up money each month from the monthly repayments you had

Good luck in staying debt free from here on

Thanks so much. I hope I don't sound smug. I'm just relieved and pleased. We obviously overspend in life and we need to stop doing that going forward as I don't want us to get in that position again!

You should be pleased

And even if you do feel smug, an anonymous forum is the place to shout about it

Money shouldn’t be taboo

It is a bloody marvellous feeling, hold hard to that feeling stay debt free.

Well done you for doing the grown up thing.

One of our endowments didn't perform, so I added the value it should have produced to the mortgage, then in the end it wasn't too far short and when the cheque landed, I paid it off the mortgage.

That was when I knew that I was a grown up. 🙄 😂😂😂
