Clearscore Credit rating reduced due to unused credit card

I was a bit miffed to find out that the credit card I applied for a couple of years ago (it was to take on holiday in case I had an emergency and wanted an extra bit of protection on unexpected purchases) has reduced my credit score, or at least I think it has. I had notification this week that the credit card was cancelled by the bank, as I had never used it. The same week I had an update from Clearscore saying my credit rating had gone down 13 points to 510. There's no other reason for it, I don't have any other credit/overdrafts or anything. Do they really mark you down for not using a credit card? It would make me think twice about getting one in the future. Bonkers, because although it's good for the banks to be using the cards, from my credit rating point of view surely it's a good thing that I wasn't tempted to use it??

Does it matter? What will the impact be of such a small reduction in your score? It's still on the 'excellent' range.

I'm wondering whether to get another credit card in the future or if getting one and then potentially not using it again would make the credit rate fall even lower. I'm just annoyed that I've been penalised by being careful and saving the card for emergencies only.

Don’t worry about this “score” no one sees it apart from you and clear score. So essentially it doesn’t really exist, potential lenders never see it.

A credit rating is how good you are with credit. So if you don't use any credit, they can't really rate you all that highly can they. They want to know that you'll pay back any credit given to you. If you've no credit history, they can't know whether you'll pay it back or not.
Best thing to do is get another credit card, pay it in full every month and your credit rating will go back up.

It doesn't matter. Clearscore are the only ones who care about the score they assign you. Potential lenders care about your history, your income, your outgoings and a range of other factors depending on what you are seeking, but they do not care about and never see your 'score'.

My score is so insanely different across the different CRAs that it is funny. They all have the same, accurate info, they all assign a different score to me based on it. The one that used to be Noddle, I think it's now CreditKarma, used to change mine significantly month to month whether there were any actual changes to my circumstances or not. They had me scored more highly when I was in default on a credit card debt than when I cleared the debt and closed the account. The scores mean nothing.
