Salary in London

Is 26,000 decent pay in London? I don't think so but it's what is being offered for a research position. It's quite abit less than present pay but we live abroad so can't compare as well.

I am not in London but I wouldn't have said it was that great, giving the cost of housing etc.

What line of work? It is around what a nanny earns say, ditto newly qualified teacher. But would be below most roles which require a professional qualification.

Try the Guardian newspaper and see if they carry jobs on line. That should let you know if it's the going rate.

you certainly wouldn't have much spare cash at the end of the month on £26k in London.

Research post in a university, admylin? I'd say that's at the lower end, but certainly not unheard of, even for people with MA, PhD etc.

I know someone who is in that line of work and earns more than that - but not to start with tbh.

Is is with a university?

Pretty standard for a University research position. But you wouldn't be living the life of Riley in London on that.

It's a medical research council job. Does any one know roughly what that would be net?

About £19404 net (£1617 a month).
