Fully comp. car insurance.. can you drive any car?

Friend's car off the road, I am taking and picking up her DCs from school. She said she will go and get my DS and her DCs, so i can stay in with DD as it is raining heavily...

if we both have fully comp insurance, is she ok to drive my car, and it will be covered should anything happen?

It would only be third party, so no cover for your own vehicle iyswim. That's what my policy covers me for anyway - would be best to check your policy just in case it's different. You wouldn't get fully comp cover for someone else driving though if they aren't a named driver.

you should call your insurance co and get her added as a named driver for a short period. I did this with my dad and it didn't cost anything. he was on it for a month while his car was off the road.

but, if you're happy to let her drive it third party.....just hope she doesn't bump it.

thanks, will call my insurers now

On my old fully comp policy I wasn't covered for anyone else's car - not even third party. I spent 5 years driving other peoples' cars about before I realised.

stripeyknickersspottedsocks...... the same thing happened to me once. Now i always check when i renew lol

depends on the policy... this year i am covered for any car, where as previously i havnt been covered for any car

Fully Comp doesn't mean you automatically get to Drive other cars even tho TPO, unfortunately,Each insurers T&C's are different
And they charge for putting a driver on temporary.
And the other thing is you can't add it mid term either.

Wil state on your Certificate if you have it or not.
