Uc help!

Just need some thoughts, has anyone changed from tc/wtc to uc and regretted it? My partner earns a decent wage, but due to circumstances he will only recieve around half his pay this month, zero pay next month and after that, who knows🤷‍♀️ tc wont cover all our bills and after doing a calculation it seems we'd be much better off on uc. Im scared to apply though because i know it will end my current claim.

Help!

Lots of people are better off on Uc especially if working at least some hours. If you have children then some of wages are disregarded before wages reduce your Uc amount, the work allowances I think are actually quite generous and also the UC standard rate has been raised for 12 months due to covoid, but you do need to remember that could go down again next April which would affect any entitlement.

To be honest if there is a chance your partners wages are going to drop to zero you will have to apply for Uc if you want any help with rent and help for yourselves, or you will just be surviving on child tax credits and child benefit.

His wages should only be zero for 1 month due to a bereavment hes not at work but will be back in june so will be paid in july, but his company are thinking of pay offs or keeping them at home on half pay so god knows what will happen going forward
