Balance transfer limit

I have around £6k on a credit card on 0% but the 0% term is almost up so I'd like to transfer to another 0% card.

This was my first CC so I've never done a transfer before.

My credit score is near perfect (993) and I've never missed a payment. A few months ago when I started researching, there were quite a few good offers that I had a 'good chance' of getting according to a soft search but unfortunately, now the virus has hit, most of those offers have gone and using the tools on money saving expert, I've got a good chance of both and Aqua and Marble card with very short 0% periods so they're not worth having.

I bank with Halifax and using their eligibility tool, I have a good chance of getting on of their longer term 0% cards. However, the soft search shows I'm likely to get a limit of £3k which obviously isn't enough for the entire balance.

Has anyone else come across this before and is there a way around it?

Transfer 3k to one card and apply for a second 0% for the rest?

I considered that but when googling, it says not to make two applications is short succession.

I guess I may have to leave the rest of the balance on the card with the interest and suck it up until the new provider will increase my limit. Never mind, that'll teach me for leaving things to the last minute.

Although, who would have predicted what's going on now 🤷🏼‍♀️

To be honest, I'd just apply, they often ask you as part of the application process if you want to transfer a balance and if so how much, so they might set your credit limit to accommodate the request.

I've never found eligibility calculators to be that accurate in terms of whether I'd be accepted or what rate/limit might be allowed and I don't think one refused application is as detrimental as people fear.

I'm going to PM you

Thanks all for your advice!! I’m looking forward to next week, no homeschooling for 4, so I’ll actually have time to sit and focus on getting this sorted.

Thanks again Flowers
