Hey everyone,
I’m now a single mum and need to start working again, I have 4 kids 7.4.2.1
Will I get help with child care?
I can claim universal credit of 1300 a month that’s included the rent, but I struggle on it, so I want to be better of at work, anyone a working parent of 4 thank you

Do you mean now (as in, during the lockdown), or later on when the restrictions are relaxed? If you mean now, there is a list here of which workers can send their dc into school and other childcare if that is what you decide, so you can work. If your school/nursery is closed and your job is one mentioned on the list, contact your local council and they will direct you to a school/nursery your dc can attend.

if you mean later on, you might be eligible for child benefit, which could help towards the childcare costs.

all the best x

Thank you later on as I have a vulnerable child, so we aren’t going out at the moment thank you

ah, ok. You can check if you are eligible for child benefit here, and if so you should be able to register to receive it now. Your 2-year-old can get free childcare (if you live in england) and receive universal credit, and once they turn 3 they will be eligible for the 30 free hours of childcare.

Surely the OP is already eligible for child benefit? It has no connection to childcare, and is there for every household with kids, for any number of kids, unless someone earns over 50k.
Do you mean tax credits @sleepismysuperpower1 ? In which case universal credit had superseded them.

@DustyDoorframes that was me getting confused. I meant that if the OP isn't already receiving child benefit, she could apply for it and use it to help towards the cost of childcare. Sorry for the confusion!
