Do you get working tax credits currently or have other children that you get child tax credits for?

No you dont need to go on UC you just inform tax credits that they need to remove your DD from your claim.

A change in circumstances does not trigger a move to UC.

Some changes in circumstances definitely do trigger a move to UC. If op does not have any other child on the claim and does not get wtc then presumably the Tax credits claim will close if there is no longer any entitlement to Tax credits and she would not then be able to re-claim them when the child returns to her and would need to claim UC. If she has a wtc claim and is still entitled to them even with no child on the claim, then child tax credits can be added back into the claim when the child returns.
Alternatively if it is only short term she may be able to continue to claim.
