Is there any point looking into old pensions of deceased parent?

Ok so after 4 stressful months since my mother died I was finally ready to fill in the application for letter of administration.
I've got the details I need for the most recent pension but then I suddenly remembered she worked somewhere else years ago for a good few years
The place she worked has probably changed hands numerous times since so I've no idea who the pension would be with
Is there any point looking into this or should I just send the form and be done with it?

Sorry for your loss.

I take it she had not retired so these are potentially pensions which make a payment on death before retirement. Worth looking into. And this looks like one place to start: www.gov.uk/find-pension-contact-details

Thanks. I've tried that but the owners and the pension providers have changed since she worked there . Think I'm wasting my time and getting unduly stressed again when I finally thought I was sorted

Yes you need to look into this.

Sorry for your loss.
You can still submit the paperwork in the meantime - they can be amended in the future - especially if there is tax to pay as you should file the return (and pay the tax, technically) within 6 months.

Sorry for your loss OP

If you’ve had no luck with the link above you could try on companies house to search what happened to the original company.

Do you know anyone who worked with your mum at that company who might still have a pension?

Normally any lump-sum that would be payable from a pension scheme is paid under the discretionary trust of the scheme directly to the recipient (although it can be paid to the estate).

So you could continue to finalise the letters of administration in the meantime.
