...what happens if/when NR is eventually taken over? What happens to the shares?

I'm not a buying shares type of person, just curious

I did barge into a conversation yesterday halfway spouting on about "mis-informed idiots queuing up at NR" etc when I realised that the person I was speaking to had done just that yesterday

You would have shares in the business that brought NR if you didn't sell them to that buiness first of course.

But, there is no misery at the moment. The bank is solvent and will remain that way unless everybody takes all their money out. The collapse of the bank would be a self fulfilling prophesy.

Not 'brought' bought

I am afraid I tend shout 'lemmings' everytime I see the queues on telly Tinker.

My DH, ever reasonable, asked what I would do if I had my life savings in NR. Would I really tough it out and leave them there and tbh I don't know. I would like to think I would but I would probably be a lemming too and a two faced one at that!

Yes, it's easy to sneer when it's not all the money in the world that you have left.

You get the option to convert to shares in the parent company or sell for a fixed price (not sure how you stand with CGT if you sell). Unlikely to come to that though.
